‘A Day in Krakow. A Night at the Opera’ is the slogan of the Krakow Opera presentations at two travel trade fairs, ITB Berlin and WTM London, and during the Vienna Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Materials targeting tourists intending to visit Krakow, the principal city of the Malopolska region, will be disseminated via multimedia stands at the trade fairs and presentations at the busiest sites in European capitals. The ‘Opera in Malopolska’ project team have prepared attractive publications and a virtual tour of the modern opera house at ul. Lubicz 48 in Krakow. The city’s opera company is going to communicate its artistic offer, opportunities for cooperation and venue rental. The project is based on the idea that this information about the Opera will be of interest to tourists who look to a quality artistic experience in the evening after a day spent at various picturesque sites in Krakow and Malopolska.

From 8-11 November 2010, the Krakow Opera is going to be present at WTM in London. Its special stand is going feature the same presentations that the Opera offered in March this year during the ITB in Berlin, plus an invitation to the artistic events scheduled for the 2010/2011 season. We expect visits from tour operators specializing in cultural tourism and individual tourists. In an Edinburgh dominated by art, among the numerous artistic events taking place during the Fringe Festival, for three days the Krakow Opera presented its own artistic and impresario offer. And although the promotional material prepared by the theatre encouraged viewers to visit Krakow's music scene, it became an opera festival in itself. The arias of Rosine from The Barber of Seville by J. Strauss, Gilda from Rigoletto by V. Verdi, and Lucy from Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti were performed by Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha in the very heart of Vienna on 19 May this year, during the promotion of the Krakow Opera at the Wiener Festwochen. ‘It’s a real musical feast for us,’ said the guests who enjoyed the recital of the Krakow Opera’s soloist at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. For one day, the famous art centre in the Austrian capital became a surrogate Krakow Opera House.more »
